Virtual ROC Post

Published: 02 Nov 2019

ROC posts were constructed during the cold war period. They were designed to be used in the event of a nuclear attack on the country.

ROC posts contained equipment and measuring devices to allow the position and power of a blast to be detected and monitored.

We decided to build a 3D model and create an animation to show exactly what an ROC post was and how they would have operated had the situation of a nuclear attack arisen.

Thankfully this never happened and as the cold war drew to a close there was no more need for the ROC monitoring posts.

In our video, we have a look around what an ROC post would have looked like when it was in use and demonstrate how the devices and measuring equipment would have worked.

This video from a technical point of view was by far the most challenging productions we have ever undertaken. There was a lot of learning involved along the way. The entire project was modelled and rendered using Blender 2.80. We used our video editor of choice (Kdenlive) to piece together he different clips and merge the audio.

If you know of anyone else who would be interested in seeing this video please share it with them.
