Home / Blog / Greenock dock cranes explosive demolition

This week’s video is not an exploration. It is the controlled demolition of three dock-side cranes in Greenock Scotland. This was filmed back in 2017.

The cranes were used for shipbuilding and repair at the Inchgreen Dry Docks in the town of Greenock, Scotland. The cranes were all built during the 1970s but due to the turn-down in the industry there fell into disuse. The cranes had not been used in over a decade when they were finally destroyed. The cranes were blown up and fell into the yard where they were later cut up and scrapped.
