The Dunaskin Ironworks is located close to the town of Patna in Ayrshire. During the 18th century, the site had an ironworks and a brickworks. Today the site still contains remains and structures from both these industries. It is also the current home of the Scottish Industrial Railway Museum.
The entire site falls within the Waterside conservation area and is thus protected. There are many buildings on the site that are of historical importance such as the main engine room for the ironworks dating back to 1847. The railway is a conservation line and does operate on open days throughout the year.
